Over 150 cyber security trainees in courses offered by Cisco Networking Academy

As part of the effort to spread the culture of online self-learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cisco Networking Academy at the ITRDC – University of Kufa has launched several training courses aimed at self-learning and acquiring knowledge in the field of cybersecurity free of charge, in both Arabic and English and at different levels.

The international trainer at the academy, Bashar al-Athari, a professor at the University of Kufa and a researcher at the ITRDC, mentioned that the Academy has held more than virtual self-learning courses for free. The courses included:

  • The first course, Introduction to Cybersecurity, was in Arabic and it started on 12-1-2020.
  • Another course was held at the same time in English for two weeks.

Mr. al-Athari stated that they also launched the Cybersecurity Essentials course on 2-2-2020, with a number of trainees participating, the latest being the Introduction to Cybersecurity course, held from 1-5-2020 to 1-7.”

As for the number of trainees, Mr. Al-Athari mentioned that the number of trainees reached more than 150, and the participants were from various governorates and nationalities. Mr. Al-Athari also stated that they intend to launch new virtual courses in different fields during the coming months, which will be announced on the website and its social networking sites.
